FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: WHY CHOOSE MIDNIGHT SUN BOAT CHARTERS OVER OTHER OPTIONS IN MIAMI?

A: With so many options in charter boat companies in Miami, it can be hard to decide on what is right for you and your Family. But now that you’ve found us, it doesn’t have to be! At Midnight Sun Charters we offer the most technologically advanced boats on the market today, fully customized for unforgettable private charter experiences. M/V Obelix is our newest addition to the fleet, a black & gold 2016 43ft Midnight Express. Fully revamped at the boat builder in Miami in March 2021, she has a 13’6” beam, stepped deep V hull, and powered by highly efficient Mercury Verado 350HP engines. Obelix offers large comfortable seating in front and behind the helm, bucket seat bench at the rear, a full arch hard top providing lots of shade, bespoke “Bentley” stitched seating, teak flooring for soft comfort underfoot, and a dive door for easy access in and out of the water. Obelix boasts a cabin and full bathroom below with a shower. We also provide you with clean and sanitized snorkel gear and noodles for flotation as necessary. At Midnight Sun our goal is to provide you with an unforgettable experience cruising waterways of Biscayne Bay. Our boats are faster than the others on offer, so you can do more with your day, enjoy more time at your destinations rather than spending your time getting there. If it’s your first time, your licensed captain, with over a decade of experience with the local waters, will help you put together an unforgettable itinerary for your day!

Q: $$$ HOW MUCH DOES A DAY WITH MIDNIGHT SUN BOAT CHARTERS COST AND ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN FEES? $$$

A: When you book a day with Midnight Sun Charters, you can expect the very best in friendly customer service, safety & experience in a surprisingly affordable price package. The prices for Miami trips are as follows:

Cost of OBELIX per day is $2,600 for up to 6 passengers. The half day trip is $1,800 for up to 6 passengers. If you have more guests, we will run the trip as a Bare Boat/Demise charter, and it’s $50/pp for each additional guest, and we can take up to 12 passengers.

The Captain Fee is an additional $200.00 (Half Day) and $400.00 (Full Day) payable directly to that lovable Pirate.

Prices for Sunset and Water Taxi trips can be found by following the Book Now links.

In this service industry it is customary to tip your Captain & Mate at the end of the charter. They will ensure that you are well taken care of throughout your day and provide a safe & luxurious charter experience. We suggest a 20-25% gratuity based on the base charter rate.

Fuel costs will vary depending on how far you travel. While we operate state of the art, highly efficient, fuel injected engines, the farther you go the more you will burn. On an average full day trip expect to burn between $250-$350 in fuel. Fuel usage is recorded on digital gauges and the gallons burned are multiplied by the current price of fuel.

Local’s discounts available, as well as VIP charter rates or Monthly Membership Package. Feel free to contact us for more info.

At the time you book your charter, we will take a 25% deposit via a major credit card to hold the reservation. The balance is due at the conclusion of the charter after the fuel is calculated. The Captain fee & tip, is preferred in cash/Venmo/Paypal etc at the end of charter, payable directly to Captain.

72hr Cancellation policy. We understand that unexpected things happen that are sometimes out of your control. We ask that if you have to cancel, give us at least a 72hr notice. Otherwise we reserve the right to keep the deposit if we cannot agree on an alternate charter date.

Creating amazing memories is what we are all about. It is your day, you choose your adventure and itinerary and we will do everything in our power to make it happen (weather permitting). Feel free to ask about customized multiple day charters, or whatever else you may have in mind.

Q: WILL THERE BE A COAST GUARD LICENSED CAPTAIN PROVIDED?

A: Of course! We only allow U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captains to operate our vessel. Your Captain is trained in first aid and CPR and meets all coast guard training requirements. From the minute you step foot on the vessel, until the teary goodbyes, your Captain will become a new friend who guides you through your adventure. The Captain (and Mate if requested) will inform you of the safety features aboard our boats, as well as help you plan and safely navigate you through your experience. Sit back relax and let your Captain show you the islands, the way they are meant to be seen.

Q: WHAT IS A BARE BOAT (DEMISE) CHARTER?

A: If you have a group of 7+ guests for your charter, we will be operating as a Bareboat charter. A bareboat charter or demise charter is an arrangement for the chartering or hiring of a ship or boat, whereby no crew or provisions are included as part of the agreement; instead, the people who rent the vessel from the owner are responsible for taking care of such things. This act is commonly known as bareboating or bareboat charter. You will have the opportunity to provide your own 50GT USCG licensed and insured Captain, or you can choose one from our preferred network of Captains who meet these requirements. Charter guest will be responsible to provide boater’s insurance as well in the amount of $1m Liability and $650k Hull & Machinery, OR, you may opt in to use the insurance of the Owner. Finally, Charter guest is responsible to provision the boat for the day, to bring water, ice, drinks of choice, and snacks if so desired. Owner will provide the boat and machinery only.

Q: WHAT SHOULD WE BRING FOR OUR DAY ABOARD?

A: When planning a day on the water in the Caribbean, there are a few essential things you will need to bring. We always recommend protection from the sun. Hats and breathable Rash Guards are the easiest way to prevent burns. If you didn’t bring any, we got you covered, ask your Captain about our Hats, Shirts, and Towels for sale on the boats. Sunscreen is also a good alternative to have while boating. We ask that you have plenty of it, but please NO SPRAY SUNSCREEN!!! Not even if you put it on prior to getting on the boat. The aerosol chemicals in it stain the decks and seats for weeks. The boats are outfitted with new Cressi brand snorkel gear & noodle flotation devices. Depending on charter type, we may provide water and ice on the boat, if you are a party of 7+, and we operate as a Bare Boat charter, you will be responsible to bring any water, ice, other drinks of choice, and snacks aboard. There is a grocery store in the Marina parking lot called Fresh Market, making it convenient for picking up drinks and food the morning of your charter. The Marina also sells Ice by 5lb bags.
